Dr. Prodan is Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing Engineering and Mathematics, Western Sydney University where he teaches computer simulation. He has over 25 years of professional experience in software development,  IT project management and system design encompassing diverse industries such as healthcare, finance, recruitment, tourism and computer-aided manufacturing.

Dr. Prodan’s main research interests are in the areas of dynamic data-driven computer modelling and simulation, in particular applications of agent-based modeling, meta-programming, large language models and data science techniques to diverse problems in epidemiology and public health. He has worked on a number of projects in partnership with health departments, private industry, academic institutions and as a Systems Architect with Decision Analytics, Sax Institute on topics such as smoking and COPD, healthcare service optimisation, alcohol harm reduction, cardiovascular disease, suicide prevention, as well as a recent project in psychiatric epidemiology – “Resolving the Australian paradox of increased mental health care expenditure and stable prevalence” with Monash Health. Previously, Dr. Prodan led the modelling of chemotherapy resource utilisation, where he used predictive modelling to optimise the patient journey within a regional cancer center. Dr. Prodan obtained his PhD in computer science through a linkage research grant between Bell Labs and University of Technology Sydney and has published over 50 academic papers.
